DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
The work involves responsibility for operating machinery or equipment in the laundry of a large institution or hospital. Under the direct supervision of the Laundry Supervisor, an employee in this class operates laundry machinery and performs routine, repetitive manual tasks involving some, heavy lifting. Work is checked by the Laundry Supervisor for neatness and accuracy. Does related work a. required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES
Operates flat iron, mangle, steam presses, and related machines. Sorts, weighs, loads machines and unloads machines. Folds and sorts clean linens, aprons, uniforms, caps. Packs baskets and carts in linen room for hospital units. Sell that linen, are picked up and delivered to proper areas.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
Working knowledge of common laundry appliances and equipment.
Ability to operate one or more kinds of laundry machinery or equipment.
Ability to follow oral instructions.
Ability to work long hours while standing and under conditions of high
temperatures and humidity.
Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
