DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS

 

The work involves the performance of routine building cleaning tasks. Under immediate supervision, an employee in this class routinely performs repetitive tasks; specific instructions are given for new assignments. This position does not involve grounds maintenance, loading and unloading of delivery trucks or doing set-ups for building activities and special events. All work is reviewed by observation. Does related work as required.

 

 

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES

 

Cleans and polishes desks and furnishings.

 

Washes and dusts windows, blinds, woodwork, walls and fixtures.

 

Cleans basins, mirrors, toilets, urinals and shower stalls.

 

Refills soap, toilet tissue and paper towel containers.

 

Depending Upon The Area of Assignment:

May scrub, mop, sweep, vacuum, dust, wax and polish floors.

 

May move furniture to clean underneath.

 

May collect and dispose of trash and recyclables.

 

 

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

 

Working knowledge of the materials, methods and equipment used in commercial cleaning.

 

Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions.

 

Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
