DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS

 

 

The work involves responsibility for storing, and distributing a variety of audiovisual equipment, supplies and materials and, on occasion, assisting in the operation of audio-visual equipment. Work is performed under the direct supervision of an Audio-Visual Specialist. This class differs from Audio-Visual Specialists in that an Audio-Visual Aide is not responsible for the reproduction of sound and visual recordings from live performance and/or radio television programs. An employee in this position is also not responsible for the maintenance and repair of the audio-visual equipment. Work is reviewed through conference and by the efficiency of the scheduling and delivery systems. An employee in this class does not exercise supervision. Does related work as required.

 

 

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES

 

Receives daily written and/or oral assignments regarding use of equipment; selects item of required equipment from the storage area; places on the supply cart and delivers to the designated area.

Sets up and operates basic audio-visual equipment such as slide/filmstrip projectors, motion picture projectors, tape recorders, public address systems, video players, photography and development equipment in the classroom or other utilization areas.

Transports equipment, media, films and supplies, etc. to and from off campus locations.

Assists in the production of posters, photographs, and other audio-visual productions.

Schedules student use of photography lab.

Inventories supplies, materials, and equipment.

Assists other audio-visual staff personnel as required or assigned.

 

 

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

 

Working knowledge of the functions and use of various audio‑visual equipment such as slide/filmstrip projectors, motion picture projectors, tape recorders, public address systems, video players, etc. and skill in operating the equipment.

Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Six (6) months of work experience or its part time equivalent in the operation of a variety of basic audio-visual equipment i.e., film projectors, tape recorders, video players and/or photographic equipment.

 

NOTE:

Possession of six (6) credit hours in audio-visual technology or photography technology from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university may be substituted in lieu of the six (6) months of work experience.

 

SPECIAL NECESSARY REQUIREMENT

 

Possession of a valid New York State Class V driver's license at time of appointment.
