This position coordinates the operation of the OCM BOCES Energy Services Department, which serves as a managing agent for the New York School and Municipal Energy Consortium. This department is responsible for paying utility and supplier invoices for customer accounts, which include various school districts and municipalities. Supervision is exercised over department clerical staff. Does related work as required.
Establishes, coordinates, and monitors the procedures of the Energy Services Department.
Manages the Energy Services budget.
Manages gas and electric accounts with utility companies and suppliers.
Serves as a liaison between school districts/municipalities, utility companies, and suppliers of natural gas and electricity.
Coordinates delivery of both natural gas and electricity.
Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates staff.
Keeps up-to-date with current industry situations and policies.
Coordinates reconciliation of all natural gas and electric accounts; coordinates bids and bid award process.
Good knowledge of utility company and natural gas regulations and restrictions.
Working knowledge of natural gas and electric industry terminology.
Working knowledge of natural gas and electric pricing mechanisms.
Working knowledge of utility rate classifications and billing structures.
Ability to work with suppliers and produce bids that meet industry standards and practices.
Ability to supervise subordinate staff.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
A. Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with a Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a closely related field, and three (3) years of professional level experience, or its part time equivalent with an energy and utility provider.
B. Seven (7) years of professional level experience, or its part time equivalent with an energy and utility provider.
C. An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.
