The work involves responsibility for patrolling an assigned area of the City of Syracuse to insure that parked vehicles are not in violation of City Ordinance and NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law. The employee issues tickets to those vehicles found in violation of the law. Assignments are received from a Commanding Officer or his/her designated supervisory staff member within the Community Policing Bureau in the Syracuse Police Department. Supervision is not exercised by this class. Does related work as required.
Patrols an assigned area of the City of Syracuse to insure that vehicles that are found in violation of City Ordinance and NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law are issued Notices of Violations.
Utilizes an auto-cite mini computer to input the vehicle identification number, license plate number and vehicle make along with the meter number, location, date and time of day.
Completes reports on meters out-of-service to appropriate authorities.
Completes reports to administrative superiors of habitual violators of metered parking.

Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written instructions.
Ability to deal tactfully with the general public.
Ability to manually enter data into a hand held recording device.
There are no minimum qualifications.
