DISTINGUISING FEATURES OF THE CLASS

The work involves supporting data management, financial management, and project management processes and functions of the Onondaga County
Office of Economic Development. The work is performed under the  direct supervision of the Director of Economic Development. Certain 
assignments made to an employee in this class will require reasonable access to transportation to meet fieldwork requirements made in the ordinary
course of business in a timely and efficient manner. Does related work as required.


TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES     

Manages business processes such as accounts payable and receivable specific to economic development organizations.

Manages economic development projects and coordinates appropriate responses both internally and externally.

Prepares and presents financial reports, budgets and data analysis related to economic development projects, economic development initiatives and economic 
development organizations.

Reports annual projects and financial data to agencies that regulate and receive data from economic development organizations.

Assists with preparation of public meeting materials for economic development organizations.

Assists with office administration specific to economic development organizations and the Onondaga County Office of Economic Development.

                           Working knowledge and familiarity with business, accounting and finance principles.

                           Skill in the use of word processing, spreadsheet and accounting software programs.

                           Ability to communicate effectively with state and local government and the business community.

                           Ability to provide information regarding programs offered by the Office of Economic Development.

                           Ability to manage assigned projects efficiently.

                           Ability to organize and summarize information requests in a timely manner.

                           Ability to adhere to and manage deadlines.

  1. Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with a 
    Bachelor’s degree or higher in economics, accounting, business administration, finance, public administration, or a closely related field.
  2. Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with an 
    Associate’s degree in accounting, business administration or a related field and two (2) years of professional-level work experience, or its part 
    time equivalent, in business administration or accounting.
