An employee in this classification works to ensure that security procedures are adhered to by all staff and that compliance with all aspects of CFR49 part 1542 regulations is maintained. This is an administrative position, reporting to the Executive Director and overseeing all matters relating the security of the Syracuse Hancock International Airport and the safety of its staff and visitors. The incumbent provides oversight of staff training, develops and maintains policy and procedures and acts as the liaison to local, State and Federal law enforcement agencies as well as the Transportation Security Administration. This position directly supervises the Assistant Airport Security Supervisor.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES
Responsible for the daily oversight of security operations at the airport.
Acts as liaison and primary point of contact for the TSA relating to all security matters.
Responsible for maintenance of all records relating to security of airport.
Maintains and assures compliance with all aspects of CFR49 Part 1542.
Prepares, submits and administers annual budget for airport security programs.
Participates in meetings and committees as required.
Review Airport Security programs, updates and changes as necessary.
Thorough knowledge of the regulations under CFR49 Part 1542.
Thorough knowledge of current Airport Security guidelines and practices.
Good knowledge of FAR Part 139.
Good knowledge of airport operations and regulatory agencies.
Ability to conduct effective training sessions with both large and small audiences.
Ability to work with outside agencies and officials.
Ability to effectively work with a diverse work force.
Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a baccalaureate degree in Criminal Justice or closely related field and two (2) years of professional level work experience at an airport, in either Airport Security or Airport Operations which must have included conducting staff training and supervision; or,
Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Associates degree in Criminal Justice or closely related field and Four (4) years of professional level work experience at an airport, in either Airport Security or Airport Operations which must have included conducting staff training and supervision; or,
Six (6) years of professional level work experience at an airport, in either Airport Security or Airport Operations which must have included conducting staff training and supervision.
SPECIAL NECESSARY REQUIREMENTS
Must complete TSA required Airport Security Training
