An employee in this classification works to ensure that security procedures are adhered to by all staff and that compliance with all aspects of CFR49 part 1542 regulations is maintained. Adherence to security regulations and policies is done through conducting ongoing and new employee staff trainings, continued monitoring of the airport facility and through compiling data and submitting reports to the appropriate authorities. The incumbent will work closely and under the direct supervision of the Airport Security Coordinator to review and develop security policies and measures and will serve as the Coordinator’s designated alternate when needed.

 

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES

 

Monitor all incoming deliveries and personnel to comply with sterile access procedures;

 

Utilize standard security procedures, inspects shipments when necessary to verify compliance with security requirements;

 

Maintain a routine surveillance of vehicle and pedestrian traffic in the ramp area;

 

Assist in collecting and transmitting to the FBI the fingerprints of potential employees and all persons with access to the secure areas of the airport;

 

Maintain Airport key control system including secure area access cards and readers

 

Assist in collecting and transmitting a variety of data to the Transportation Security Administration and Syracuse Regional Airport Authority;

 

Maintain all records related to security operations including conducted trainings and employee fingerprints;

 

Assist in assuring compliance with all aspects of CFR49 Part 1542 regulations;

 

Review Airport Security programs and makes recommendations for updates and changes to the Airport Security Coordinator;

Thorough knowledge of current Airport Security guidelines and practices

 

Good knowledge of key and access card control systems

 

Good knowledge of airport operations and regulatory agencies

 

Ability to conduct effective training sessions with both large and small audiences

 

Ability to effectively work with a diverse work force

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Two (2) years of professional level work experience at an airport, or its part time equivalent, in either Airport Security or Airport Operations

 

SPECIAL NECESSARY REQUIREMENTS

Must complete TSA required Airport Security Training
