DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
The work involves responsibility for training and assisting users in the operation of and functional capabilities of office automation products. This employee demonstrates office automation products such as personal computers, word processors and printers and provides for user needs by acting as liaison with vendors. This class differs from that of Office Automation Analyst by virtue of the limitations of identifying user department needs and installation of new products to departments. Does related work as required.
Trains and assists users on specific office automation hardware and software products such as personal computers and word processors, in operation and product capabilities.
Assists end users in problem solving, organizational techniques and data analysis.
Gives demonstrations and presentations of products to user departments.
Assists in maintenance schedules or upgrading of office automation products in user departments.
Maintains inventory of office automation hardware and software supplies.
Acts a liaison between user and vendor on specific office automation products.
WHEN ASSIGNED TO THE ONONDAGA COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT:
Participates in public health preparedness activities as trained and assigned.

Good knowledge of departments work; comprehensive understanding for interpretation of most operating policies;
Good knowledge of office automation products function, use and capabilities;
Ability to learn new hardware and software of office automation products;
Ability to work effectively with end users in solving problems;
Ability to communicate effectively;
A. Two (2) years of work experience, or its part-time equivalent in using and training users in the operation of office automation products; such as personal computers and word processors, or;
B. Successful completion of 15 semester credit hours (or 20 quarter credit hours) from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college, university or business school in data processing, programming, computer science or a closely related field, or;
C. An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B).
