The work involves responsibility for assisting the Vocational Evaluator in obtaining information about an individual's vocational aptitude, interests, and skills by administering and scoring work samples and psychometric tests. Tests are scored according to set guidelines given in manuals or explained and interpreted by the Evaluator. Psychological and/or vocational interpretation of test results is not a function of the employee in this classification. The employee assists the Vocational Evaluator and does not assess skills or aptitudes, nor provide vocational planning or counseling. The incumbent works closely with, and is directly supervised by the Vocational Evaluator in all aspects of standard test administration and score interpretation. Supervision is not a function of this position. Does related work as required.
Administers standard work sample tests and psychometric tests to vocational rehabilitation clients and students in need of vocational services or to individuals interested in the program as directed by the Vocational Evaluator.
Communicates work sample and psychometric test results to individuals or groups of clients.
Develops and implements career exploration programs for groups of disabled individuals or non-disabled individuals using interest, aptitude and academic testing.
Prepares reports as requested by the Vocational Evaluator.
Maintains equipment used in the program; orders supplies or new equipment as needed; and keeps an account of orders, purchases and monies expanded on supplies.
Keeps equipment ready for administration; replaces consumable items; and sets up work samples.
Cleans work samples, tables, and other evaluation equipment in a timely fashion.
Working knowledge of standard vocational tests, their applications and scoring methods.
Working knowledge of occupational information in an adult education or student vocational and educational environment.
Ability to work with groups and/or individuals in the administration of vocational, aptitude and skill measurement tests.
Ability to prepare written reports.
Ability to interpret written and oral information relating to the interpretation of test results and scoring procedures.
Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
Promotion
Two (2) years of permanent competitive class status in a second level clerical position.
Open Competitive
Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an associate's degree in human services or a closely related field; or,
One (1) year of work experience, or its part time equivalent, assisting in the administration of vocational, aptitude or psychological tests; or,
Completion of one three (3) credit course in psychological tests and measurements, or a closely related course, from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university.
