DATA ENTRY SUPERVISOR 03110
Supervises the activities of the data entry section in a data processing unit performs related work as required.
Under general supervision, an employee in this class is responsible for the accuracy and workflow of a data entry section. Assignments and priorities are received from administrative superior with some leeway in the scheduling of the workload. Supervision is exercised over a number of Data Entry Operators. Work is reviewed through conference and by the overall accuracy of the data entry section.
Has responsibility for the supervision and operation of data entry equipment in the electronic recording on input media of a variety of source materials including financial, personnel, police and other records and reports.
Assists in the implementation of new methods of scheduling data.
Determines and reports any hardware malfunction.
May perform routine coding incidental to the electronic recording of data: re-enters incorrect data file punch cards and related materials.
Good knowledge of the methods and equipment used in entry and verification of input media in connection with electronic recording of statistical and accounting data.
Good Knowledge of office practices and routines.
Skill in the operation of a standard typewriter or data entry equipment.
Ability to establish priorities and maintain an accurate work flow.
Ability to read small printed work and numbers rapidly and accurately.
Ability to supervise in a manner conducive to full performance and high
Ability to make oral and written reports.
Two (2) years of permanent status as a Data Entry Equipment Operator.
A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate's Degree in computer science, or,
B) Two (2) years of work experience, or its part-time equivalent in computer science, operations, or data entry equipment operation; or,
C) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B).
