SUMMER AIDE
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS
Under immediate supervision, employees perform a wide variety of basic and routine assignments that assist in the normal functioning of governmental operation. Employees perform a variety of routine manual, clerical or recreational work in governmental agencies. This allows for the smooth flow of governmental operations when additional staffing is needed. Although the majority of participants work only during the summer season as needed and available, employees may also work during other seasons of the year.
This job may function in any governmental jurisdiction and be supervised by regular governmental employees. There is no supervision of other employees exercised in this classification. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTITIVIES
May act in a clerical capacity as a receptionist within government offices involving meeting people, assisting in answering basic questions, filing departmental material.
May act in a laboring function within a Department of Public Works in cutting of grass, shrub and rubbish removal, flagger in a road repair gang.
May act in a recreational setting involved in monitoring of activities in an organized recreational program, working with youngsters in play, craft or athletic activities.
May perform tasks of basic nature in areas of assignment other than above described.
